First Friday Show Tomorrow Night!

I'm in a show at Works Gallery tomorrow night, October 2nd (First Friday).  It's a group show with a found object theme.  Come by and check it out.

Small Paintings

Over the weekend I painted these guys.  Small and affordable, just like Kia, but of better quality.  If you're interested in purchasing one they're $50 each and you can inquire through the contact page.  They are 5.75" x 8.5".

"Just Fine"

"For a Little While Everything Will Be Alright"

"Creepy Guy at the Pool"

Wheel Covers

Two weekends ago the Hardcourt Bicycle Polo Federation World Championships were held here in Philadelphia.  The each member of the second place team was awarded a set of handbuilt wheels specifically designed for bike polo.  The wheels were paired with wheel covers painted by local artists.  Players cover one or both wheels to protect the spokes from the ball, mallets, or other bikes.  I had the pleasure of painting a set.  Check 'em out below.  To see the rest of the covers and pictures from the tournament go here.

Cutting Tiny Letters

Occasionally I'll do something really terrible to myself.  Today I decided that a new piece I'm working on needed tiny text hand cut from a sheet of brass.  It is a wonderful exercise in patience and a reminder to not drink too much coffee.  Got nine letters cut this morning.  Only seven for tomorrow.

New Work

I've been trying to figure out how to paint for a little while now and I just finished my first acrylic painting.  It's called "Shiner"...everyone loves having injuries to show off and there is a little bit of pride in battle scars.  This guy is clearly in bad shape, but he's pretty smug with himself.  It's acrylic on wood panel with a gloss varnish topcoat.

This piece was previously posted in progress.  Here it is finished.  The leaves are cut and painted wood, the fan is cut and assembled wooden rulers, there is a layer of Plexiglas over the image of Mary that is scratched and impregnated with inks.
